For those of you who are completly ignorant of dialysis,
haemodialysis is used to replace about 15% function of failed kidneys
and is usually carried out 3 times weekly for an average of about 4
hours.
Although transplantation provides relative freedom from
dialysis, there is no complete cure for kidney
failure.

This diary has been written to provide a view into the life of
a haemodialysis patient. It is also to give a frank, personal view
into renal care in this country at the beginning of the 21st century.
